Post treatment

In laser manufacturing post-treatment means an additional production engineering measure implemented where necessary to eliminate the unwanted secondary effects of laser processes.

An important function of process development is therefore to suppress unwanted secondary effects by optimizing all relevant parameters.

Nonetheless, limitations in process technology or commercial restraints frequently make post-treatment a necessary option. In many cases, however, an improvement in the surface quality of the entire workpiece is desired.
