History

With roots dating back to 1975, Lastec Ltd has been associated with precision laser processing technology right from the very beginning. Various structural modifications were required to keep up with the rapid pace of change in laser technology. Between 1989 and 1995 (i.e. in the last millennium) Lastec Ltd was integrated in one of the world's leading industrial laser companies and has operated simultaneously as a laser system manufacturer as well as a laser contract manufacturer.

The present Lastec Ltd was re-founded at the beginning of 1995 when a group of three partners bought out the assets as part of a global restructuring of the parent company and transformed the company into an autonomous and legally independent entity. The laser system activity was split off and physically transferred to the parent company.

The new company was temporarily given the name Lastec Laserjob Ltd to clearly distinguish the old from the new era during the transitional phase. The appendage "Laserjob" was dropped at the end of the millennium quite simply because the short name Lastec AG is much easier to use in everyday business and the demerger has long been completed.
